Careers in Music

When I say careers in music most people think of your usual pop stars and Music teachers in school… well I’ll have you know there are so many jobs you could get in the music world. You have your the music publishing branch, The studio recording branch, Instrumental repair, Performance and Teaching to name a few. Each section adds their own very important flavor to the industry. There are hundreds of people in the music industry that go into producing one CD. You have the studio recorders, the song writers, the back-up band, the publicist, the producer and many more people that I cant even think of. It is funny that the people that get the most credit for the cd is the artist that happens to have a good voice to sing the songs written for them and/or in a band’s case at least they wrote their own songs. I’m not saying the singer is band but the other people that worked on that CD put the same amount of work into it and never get any credit. Its amazing how much work goes into music and how many people it takes to make a masterpiece.

Here is a list of the many careers in the music field, approximite salaries, personal Qualifications, Knowledge and skills, Recommended Precollege Training, and Recommended College Education and Training. There is always somthing in the music idustry for everyone… weather it is performance or recording. The Music industry is a huge growing field with many opportunities.

For new music I would like to introduce you to playradioplay! They are kinda mellow but so good. They have a soft sound but are so unique lyrics and music wise.

  1. you really hit a good point becuaes when i think of the music career thats is what comes to mind first and we do forget about the other fields that arent really heard of.

  2. nice! I didn’t realize how many different careers there were in the music production industry. I’ve heard of playradioplay but I haven’t listened to them yet. I’ll def give them a listen! :)

  3. That really is the general assumption. That it cool how many different things you can really do with music. I never really knew how many different websites played free music, but since I have been at college I have heard of so many others.

  4. It has to be said that just because you are in music doesnt mean you have all those things. Alot of bands put releases out themselves, some even start their own recordlebels as a cheaper and a more controlled way of getting their music heard. As for not getting credit. Not so much in the indie or punk scene but places like the rap and R&B genre the name of a producer is a big deal. EXAMPLE: Timbaland. The one republic song that he remixed was just him saying yeah a few times and an electronic beat. and he got top billing for that, not to shabby. Timbalands asking price for the production of one track? get this…$1 million.

I agree that in the rock/indie/punk… groups that right thier own lyrics and actually play instruments to get the credit they deserve…
It is the hip-hop/pop/r&b genres that dont give credit to the other talented people that help with thier record.

Even though bands do record and produce thier own cd’s someone in the band has to know how to do it… it still takes a good amount of people to be able to pull it off
